Proposal & Report Design

Covers & Spines

First impressions are very important, and this is also true for good cover designs for proposals and reports, as they set the tone for what the reviewers will find inside. Oftentimes, an RFP will dictate the information that must be included on the cover, but beyond those requirements, I find it a fun challenge to come up with creative ways to present that information and give it a professional, polished look. The cover contains the visual elements that the reader will see throughout. Colors, fonts, and image styles reflect the look and feel you want to reader to have before digging in to the guts of the proposal. It used to be that proposals were submitted as hard copies, pulled together by 3-ring binders with inserts for printed cover art as well as the spine graphics. In recent years, more RFPs are submitted electronically. Below are samples from both submission formats.
