PowerPoint Presentation Design

I love PowerPoint! It can be a bit buggy sometimes, but if you know the tools, it is a very powerful program. I was originally hired to be a dedicated PowerPoint designer/animator at Black & Veatch back in 2003. At the time, B&V had 7,200 employees in 39 major U.S. cities and on 6 continents, and I was fortunate to get to work in the Corporate Marketing, Branding & Communications department at the global headquarters in Overland Park, KS.

I was told to sit in my cube and learn all I could about PPT. I eventually was selected as the primary designer for the CEO/ Board of Directors President's quarterly leadership presentations, which drew over 100 of B&V's top leaders (presidents, vice-presidents and senior directors) to Kansas City every 3 months. I was chosen for this role due to my versatile graphics experience and advanced skills at complex animation sequences and audio/video integration in PowerPoint, which helped me turn otherwise dry presentations data into something more fun and engaging. This also provided me with excellent experience for going into the video-editing studio (with the Senior Director of Marketing) to produce graphics and animations for his quarterly videos.
